1) Around 92,000 patent applications were filed in India in the last financial year.

2) Indigo has filed a lawsuit against Mahindra Electric for infringing on its trademark & quot; 6E. & quot; The airline claims that it could confuse consumers and damage Indigo brand identity.

3) Singapore’s efforts to curb piracy led to picking out illegal streaming devices on e-commerce platforms like Lazada.

4) The WIPO Academy held week-long online lectures on intellectual property (IP) from November 4 to 8, 2024 for students at Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Padjadjaran in Indonesia. The popular annual lecture series had the highest turnout yet with a record-breaking 1,849 participants under the age of 35 from undergraduate and graduate programs across both universities.

5) The Indian Army showcased 22 innovations at its annual        Inno-Yoddha 2024-25 competitions, aimed at boosting operational efficiency. These innovations are selected from 75 entries; these innovations will now enter production.

6) China top IP regulator, CNIPA, has announced 75 national IP protection centers across the country, spanning 29 provinces, regions, and municipalities. A new center will be established in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to protect IP, particularly in high-end equipment and materials.

7) Kazakhstan’s Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) approved new Intellectual Property Regulations on November 15, 2024, effective January 1, 2025. These regulations align with international standards, covering trademarks, patents, copyrights, and more. Operating under English common law, the AIFC aims to attract investment in sectors like fintech, IT, and biotech. The AIFC will recognize Kazakhstan-registered IP rights but won’t have a separate registry.

8) Hong Kong will host the Business of IP Asia Forum (BIP Asia) on December 5-6, 2024, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event, organized by the Hong Kong government and Trade Development Council, will bring together over 2,500 participants and 90+ speakers. The forum, themed & quot; Reimagining IP for Impact and Growth,& quot; will cover key topics like IP strategies, technology licensing, and emerging technologies such as AI and blockchain. BIP Asia highlights Hong Kong’s growing role in global IP innovation.
